Why so few? After the hurricanes in 2004-5, finding a Florida mobile home insurance company got hard. In fact, most companies stopped writing mobile homes in Florida. Insurers mentioned the catastrophic damage from hurricanes as the top reason.

Some of these companies listed above may be relatively new insurance companies in Florida. But others, like Foremost has been around since 1952, and Tower Hill Insurance/Omega since 1972.
The financial stability of your homeowners insurance company is extremely important. We live in hurricane-prone state. A large scale disaster could affect an insurer’s ability to pay claims. We recommend exploring the financial rating using a 3rd party rating organization. The two most organization for Florida-based companies are www.demotech.com or Ambest.com. These 3rd party companies review and assign a financial stability rating.
Currently, there are 260,000 owner-occupied mobile homes insured. The largest 5 insurers provide 78% of mobile home insurance policies. 4 out of the 5 companies are private insurers. Citizens Insurance (#4) is the state run company of last resort.
State Farm, Allstate, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, Geico, and Progressive do not offer policies for manufactured homes in Florida.
